Why am I'm an Artist?

Why are you an artist? What is the subject matter and style of your work? What are the questions you grapple with in your work? I'm an Artist because it's the language I've practiced, have been educated educated, worked professionally, and understand the most, in order to best share stories about myself, how I connect and form relationships with other people, the natural, and the sociopolitical world around me.

On being an emerging artist:

Why do you identify as an early career/emerging artist? I'm a late bloomer. I just found my voice and learned how to use it. Hiding behind an art historical or academic voice worked for a while. But, when asked to speak about myself two years ago, I was unable until I learned how to confront my vulnerabilities, traumas, and reclaim my voice.
