Proposal: VR Garden Oculus Experience is for individuals and groups to draw together as a community in a VR Garden. Developed for Oculus Quest and Rift S, the program will be ideal for personal and social Oculus players, and in museums and educational environments. People will draw in a VR Garden and other landscapes as an individual or multiplayer freestyle drawing program. A player may also join a guided journey using narrative, drawing, neuroscience, transformational psychotherapies such as EMDR (originally used for PTSD and here used for emotional fear, isolation, and inertia due to the existential threat of climate destruction), mindfulness and tai chi inspired techniques to empower and build neuroplasticity, or resilience.
Part of my proposal for Facebook Community Leadership Program (FCLP) was to make new relationships in global centers of technology. XR Pioneer founded by Paola Paulino was an incredible partner and host of VR Garden and Better World Museum PopUp during July-August 2019. Performing live in Shenzhen and Beijing to audiences on LED screens. One audience member, 10-year-old Dylan and his parent were called on stage to learn how to draw in VR. “It’s easy to handle and more interesting than drawing on paper,” Dylan noted.
VR Garden is a future Oculus Activity and Experince, designed and creaed entirely in Quill, for the Oculus Quest. VR Garden will be a series of Game Narratives and Adventures for up to 4 friends inside of Facebook Spaces. Participants will discover edible, medicinal, ad poisounous plants and need to use them in situations based on rasing empathy and inclusion, while re-propigating and polinating plants. Two Bees will be theor guides as the players navigate diffrent climate-change affected envoronments. This STEM/STEAM Action Experice is intended to ignite empathy and real world action to promote a healthier community and future world.
At Better World Museum we are experimenting with combining Yoga + VR drawing to help create a vizualization of energy, healing, and transformation. I believe this practive may help relieve anxiety, stress, depression, PTSD, and more illnesses leading towards optimal healing, and a more healthy lifestyle.
Working with teens at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center to create AR Flower Patches, inspired by the botanical print & book collection at the Minneapolis Athenaeum. The Flower Patch Partner Program concept will be inclusive for teens in many tech centers, which will be able to participate.
Lately I've been creating Community VR Gardens at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, and at a Domestic Abuse Outreach Center with the Oculus Go. I'm able to bring VR right to the people where they are at -- emotionally and physically.
I love my Oculus Go! It’s new and I just got it. I'm already using it in a few ways I find impactful. My favorite thing to do right now is draw the sky while live-streaming. I talk about creating a better day together and invite the public to draw, share & tag #drawabetterday
Common Urban Edible Plants native to Minneapolis grow all over downtown, including the ground that the Hennepin County Library rests upon. Artist-in-residence for the Spencer Collection in the Minneapolis Athenaeum, I invite members of the Best Buy Teen Tech Lab to join her in drawing common urban edible plants in digital and virtual reality.
This week I drew some flowers that I’ve been seeing pop-up this Spring. Lilies, lilacs, poppies, dandelions, and more. I talk about which are edible and what plants to avoid eating. Join me in FB Spaces and draw together!
Hi, I'm Paige. I'm a passionate and committed Artist who loves creative technology. These VR videos share a bit about who I am right now, including Why am I an Artist, What are my strengths and vulnerabilities, and ultimately what I hope to accomplish.
VR is a powerful tool in making better communities. A 5-day archive demonstrates why VR is vital today, and how it may positively impact the future.
I drew some garden flowers in Virtual Reality and shared a Poly link (updated) on Twitter: inviting the public to remix, or add to the VR Garden. Globally, people are socially drawing a more beautiful world together. VR Garden has become a platform for human connection, inclusion, and empathy, as well as climate justice, and wellness.
Purple Flower Survivors with Domestic Abuse Project, MN. 5to10 on Hennepin, Paige Dansinger, Hattie Ball, 2016. 65 survivors of domestic abuse drew purple flowers to help create this empathy experience. Directed by Paige Dansinger.
Interactive Clouds, Creative Tech Week, NYC, Paige Dansinger, Hattie Ball & Seth Gibson, 2016. Audience invited to tweet colors of rainbow to the clouds. When colored sparkles formed a rainbow, a double rainbow appears - evidence working together can create a better world! A clapping audience or a tweet using the hashtag #doublerainbow activates a purple (Prince) unicorn to fly across the sky!
I'm honored to begin 2018 as the first Artist in Residence at the Minneapolis Athenaeum. It's the oldest library and nonprofit in Minneapolis. The rare book collection, housed in the downtown Hennepin County Library, includes the Spencer Natural History Collection, including botanical books. . . .
One of my favorite projects of 2017 was a collaboration with NEWPALMYRA and Disquiet's Junto Project. It was the first project I did with the Oculus and learned how to use Tilt Brush. It resulted in 30 Sound Artists creating 0293: Emerge Immerse. The Soundcloud playlist may be found here.
I'm planning a project that includes members of the Best Buy Teen Tech Center at the Hennepin County Library downtown. It's an after school drop-in space. My task, part of an upcoming Artist Residency, at the Minneapolis Atheneum (upstairs from the Teen Tech Center), is to make their collection of botanical prints more accessible and relevant today. I love botanical prints and with a dedication to Museums as Sites for Social Action (MASS Action), makes me eager to decolonize that collection with creative tech.
Participatory Wellness Spaces create the opportunity for social healing and collective wellbeing. Drawing Remixes inside of Tilt Brush's Poly offers any person ability to add to the drawings. Drawing a better world together inside of a 360 space where all are welcome, have a voice, reconnect in a healing place, and may find themselves
Go on an Herbal-walk and identify edible, medicinal, and poisonous plants. Pick different plants to hear an Indigenous Minnesota story, song, or memory.. Place the plant inside the bandolier bag. Use the herbs when you need them to eat, heal, and protect yourself in this VR learning and listening experience.
Erfurt Germany is one town that massacred their Jewish population, up to 3000 people were murdered in the Spring of 1349. In 1998, a treasure was recovered, included was a Jewish communal ceremonial wedding ring. I believe this is a perfect opportunity to view genocide from a feminine perspective.
Virtual Reality is an important part of Garden One. From the start our community has been drawing a VR garden before the foundation of the garden structure arrived to engage the public in the idea of Garden One, and to get people involved before we ever start planting seeds. Facebook Spaces and Tilt Brush offer opportunities to explore ideas and share them socially.
I discovered the fun world of Facebook Spaces in VR and love it. I believe it'll be the future of FB once VR is normalize and accessible in the majority of households, especially if it eventually is adapted to mobile. I've delivered portions of presentations, created art with other people in a shared space, and planning a cable network show on creative tech and social action.
Tilt Brush and Facebook Spaces are both perfect for performing Museum Draw. My first drawing was Palmyra Arches, but then I've been drawing The Erfurt Ring,
I just learned how to make 360 videos with Tilt Brush. So, I made 20+ videos and counting. Check them out by watching with a smartphone on YouTube. Use an Oculus Go, or cardboard headset. Click on image to access the Better World Museum 360 Video Playlist.
